Kobi and Obi Packaging

From The Design Tracts

One of my first major projects with Podd Morrow Design of Chicago, and for their client Senario, I had the Kobi Oki and Obi Tan boxes to tackle.

Kobi and Obi were interactive stuffed animals. You could "tickle" them and they would respond in kind.

The top logo is the brand mark that I developed. Below shows the other directions we could have gone. I do like the final result.

Goofing Off

From The Design Tracts
A week ago I directed the Children' photo shoot for a local mental-health hospital. Here I am, kicking back with a coffee, directing the shoot and mugging for the camera.

Before and After PhotoShoot

From The Design Tracts

I work for Rogers Memorial Hospital now in the Marketing Department. Although I've been hired as a Communications Specialist, my job is pretty much like that at DMC - a designer and art director.

Here's a little retouching from a photoshoot I recently did of the new wing of Rogers Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee. The above shows how the it looked before post production.

I caught the flag in a different photo, but the picture it was in wasn't as good. I took a picture of the sky a few days later and in different location over a lake near my office. Four different photos to make one composite.

I've not done a lot retouching lately, so it's fun when I get a chance.

Behind the Scenes PhotoShoot - Day 1

Today, I got to work on the photo shoot for a local mental-health hospital after months of planning. I hired Dan Bishop to do the photography. Day one so far was fantastic. Lots of good stuff to review later.

MK Logo Picks

Client presentation. Many yet to choose from. You probably never want to give your client this variety, but I did on this occasion. ( I was showing off. ) Funny thing, the top logo was the first type treatment I thought of and even though form follows client (or paycheck follows client) -- it's still my most least favorite solution.

TCI Information Graphics

From The Design Tracts

This was actually quite a fun project and I am, and most importantly - the client, happy with the results.

Going forward with an update of TCI's graphic identity I had the task of redesigning just how these waveform charts should look. I came up with a nice, clean look with just enough shadow and gradient to make these charts look sharp and clean. Also, these charts can function on a white background (plain paper) or on coverage backgrounds, like above.

Again, probably not the most sexiest thing design-wise, but good design is not always about the most flashy or prolific. It is about solving the visual problem at hand.

NACL V2 Client Logo Picks

Client presentation picks for a line of consumer electronics. This assignment is from a few years ago. I was asked to create an identity for a line of sports electronics along very specific criteria.

The client wasn't much up to exploration of other options.

Regardless, I think I crafted some worthy options.

lake country designer • my professional site

From The Design Tracts
Yesterday, I launched my new design site. I've left DMC for various reasons, so I am back to freelance in the short term. In the long term I'd like to just focus on one field like just packaging design or just interactive/web design.

I'd appreciate any help.

Note: I've removed my site and for now, this blog will have to function like my online portfolio. If you are interested in talking to me, feel free to email me.

Barcamp Madison logo

I submitted this quickly done logo for BarCamp Madison 1. They wanted flames and the state capital. I tried to combine everything. Think it works?
