Performance Plus Marketing Components

Click to embiggen.
The above graphic shows the various components for the launch of this private label.

It was nice, as a designer, to not only design the logo, but design the packaging, the sell sheets, the email, and the web graphic – as well as do the product photography myself and write the copy as the one iteration above illustrates.

The launch of this product will be via the client's sales staff and social media.

Web Instructions PDFs

Web Instruction PDFs

These were instruction sheets that were not only in need of a rewrite, but a redesign. So I did. They came out quite nice I think and were definitely an improvement from the previous versions.

Performance Plus Pink Soap Label Design

Performance Plus Pink Soap Label

Just a quick mock-up of the product with label that I designed. I had to alter the logo a bit from the original to work with this type of 1-color flexo-printing and I was limited to a matrix of some 12 colors to work with.

This was a pretty quick design all-in-all. Just a few hours I had to come up with an acceptable solution.

Not very sexy I know... but it met the goals and timeline of the client.

RJ Schinner Product Shots

The products I have to shoot for RJ Schinner are sometimes challenging. If its not black plastic bowls, it's white boxes and clear trash can liners. Anyway, this is a sample of what I shot today.

My main light source was the patio door at the right scrimmed back with an old shower curtain that my wife wanted to toss, but I saved just in case. At left was my circa 80's Bogen 200b monolight. Minimal photoshop on these, and the reflections you see from another salvaged piece of opaque plastic that I tend to shoot most things on it seems.

Performance Plus Logo Design

I was given the assignment to design a mark for a line of value-based janitorial and sanitation products called Performance Plus. This was a hot project so I had a day to whip up something. Below shows  four solid directions I presented to the client.

The top example was what the client liked best  and will now initially be applied to a one color flex-label that I designed and will post later.

Novapaper.net Launch

After a few months of development, I was finally given the go-ahead to launch Novapaper.net website that I designed, coded, and concepted. It's a pretty straightforward website. HTML, CSS and Javascript -- but it gets the job done.

Take a visit.

Skina • Hannimex Praktica • Russian Federal

I found this trio shot of European cameras from my collection. I shot this with my Rebel XT a few years back. Did some work in Photoshop to make it a high key black and white.

Hotel Cup Illustration

You know those ubiquitous little plastic-wrapped hotel cups that are in every hotel as a bathroom courtesy? Instead of taking a product of shot it and possibly spending lots of time touching it up in post, I drew it up in Illustrator instead.

I haven't had much time lately to shoot my collection being a father of a two year old will do that to you.

So I found this shot and upped the "drama" in Photoshop.

We took my daughter out here because she likes trains, but after 5 minutes she was ready to do something different. Toddlers...

Delta Dental Plan Photoshoot

As Art Director I worked on a series of ads for the Delta Dental Plan of Michigan. Each ad was to show what thoughts or activities put a smile on the character's mind.

We did 6 different concepts in all and we shot down in Austin, Texas.

Lifestyle Photo Shoots - Collection 1

The photos above are just small sample of various photo-shoots that I art directed for a local mental-health hospital. (Photography by Dan Bishop.) Each shot was tailored for a specific unit and these shots are currently featured in print and online marketing. They were a lot of fun and the results were well recieved.

As I comb through my collection, I had these two rather roguish camera packed away. The IV (background) was manufactured in September 1951, and the II (foreground) in March 1956.

Shot in my home studio of course.

This vintage camera I've had sitting in my collection for awhile and I've finally had the chance to shoot it. Working with my new 7D is quite nice.

As of writing this post, I'm auctioning this camera via ebay -- I almost don't want to part with it, but I must.

Terraces Direct Mail

This was a fun piece. Essentially it was a booklet that not only described the condo that were to be sold, but the attractions and various establishments around the neighborhood where this downtown Milwaukee condo development to be built.

I did the design of the booklet and even engineered the die-lines of the cover that held the booklet.

A to Zoo Milwaukee Direct Mail

Working with a team of directors and writers, I came up with the idea of "A to Zoo" and developed this direct mail piece and type treatment. This piece unfolded into a 18x24 poster.

It was received really well with a tremendous response rate and the Milwaukee county zoo had a huge spike in new members signing up for the zoo pass.

Polariod Sun 600

This is a Polaroid Sun 600 camera. I think I found this specimen at a local Milwaukee thrift store.

Again, this photo was shot in my home studio.

Antique Tobacco Tins

These are antique tobacco tins from my Grandpa Pickard that I shot in my home studio some years ago.

It's funny, but I can't recall a time when my grandpa ever smoked?

Hartland Train Depot

This vignette is of the old Hartland Train Depot. Since I've taken this photo it has been remodeled into office space.

I must admit, the building had a certain charm as a ruin.

Grandpa's Ledger

This is a studio shot I took of  my Grandpa Pickard's (born in 1900) ledger where he kept a record of his expenses when he was a farmer in northern Wisconsin.

It is a beautiful old document. Handling it always reminds me of him.

RJ Schinner Sales & Marketing Binder Design

About three months ago, I took the job as Electronic Marketing Specialist with RJ Schinner. In this role, I do design and marketing, as well as manage a website and blog along with other marketing initiatives. It's been a good fit so far.

I started work on a binder to showcase our in-house sales and marketing efforts and the result is the artwork above. With almost no resources, I found royalty free and free use artwork online. The binder also features a spot color of Pantone 8422C -- silver metallic.

I think the result is pretty good. So far everyone has been pleased.

Its a high-end piece that RJ Schinner hasn't had before.
