Lifestyle Photo Shoots - Collection 2

This is a collection of shots that I directed for a local independent mental-health hospital. I made my casting by recruiting interested individuals off of Craigslist. (Budgets as they were.) For the most part, I was looking for average, all-Americans that could show that they were empowered, and maybe not all there yet, but on their way to recovery. Many of these shots were over a three-year period.

Delta Dental Plan Photoshoot

As Art Director I worked on a series of ads for the Delta Dental Plan of Michigan. Each ad was to show what thoughts or activities put a smile on the character's mind.

We did 6 different concepts in all and we shot down in Austin, Texas.

Lifestyle Photo Shoots - Collection 1

The photos above are just small sample of various photo-shoots that I art directed for a local mental-health hospital. (Photography by Dan Bishop.) Each shot was tailored for a specific unit and these shots are currently featured in print and online marketing. They were a lot of fun and the results were well recieved.

Headshot Session, before and after.

From The Design Tracts

As you can see I did very little touch-up or correction to her. Not high art, but a necessary task when you where many hats in a one-man operation.

Classic Point and Shoot Camera

From The Design Tracts

A classic designed camera I found on one of my antique camera buying sprees when I scoured the resale shops for my then ever-expanding collection.

A co-branded Bell & Howell and Cannon Cannonet 17 point and shoot which I shot in my home studio some months back.

Herrington Photoshoot

From The Design Tracts

Last week was a hectic schedule. Between three photoshoots and my normal work, I packed in the hours. This is an outtake of me doing what directors do best, re-arrange stuff for the camera.

The day's shots came out flawless and we had wonderful talent to back us up. Special thanks to L&M Productions for casting assistance and to our volunteer talent.

OCD Photoshoot Outtake

From The Design Tracts
A couple of weeks ago, I directed a photo shoot for a local mental-health hospital, featuring the OCD unit. The shoot went really smooth and looking at the shots, we got lots of useful photos. Our volunteer talent did a great job. Special thanks to Dan Bishop for another high quality, profitable day of shooting.

Here I am dressing the set with some blankets.

Me, directing from the ground.

From The Design Tracts

From a few week ago as I tried to direct the shoot which was up on the high ropes 40 feet above me. Even from the ground, I hung on for dear life.

Rogers photo-shoot out take

From The Design Tracts
Two weeks ago, I art directed a photo-shoot for a local mental-health hospital. While setting up the treadmill, I clearly demonstrate why an ape like me is better behind the camera barking orders, instead of in front of it. This week I have a hefty schedule of photo shoots. I am looking forward to getting on set, directing our volunteer talent, and working with Dan Bishop once again.

Modeling a new hat?

From The Design Tracts
I had to do a quick photoshoot this afternoon for an annual report that I've been designing and working on for the past month. I can't wait to finish it. IMO, it will be a beautiful piece when it is finished.

Anyway, this is a quick outtake from today's shoot  as my assistant mugs for me.

Goofing Off

From The Design Tracts
A week ago I directed the Children' photo shoot for a local mental-health hospital. Here I am, kicking back with a coffee, directing the shoot and mugging for the camera.

TransMetro Center Photoshoot

A few weeks ago, I was asked to take some photos of the TransMetro Center for an upcoming RFP. I got lucky that it was a nice, bright late morning/early afternoon. I wouldn't say that these photo are great or works of art or design, but photography has come to take a larger role in what I do at DMC. Curious, two of the three firms I have worked at since college has utilized me as a photographer in some capacity or another. although my training has really been that of a designer, despite all my years prior in the darkroom of commercial printers before college as a semi-professional.
